Chasing Coral Film Screening

Surfrider, REI and HippyTree join forces to host Care for the Coast, a multi-day event created to celebrate life at the beach and promote a healthier ocean and coastline for the South Bay!

Care for the Coast kicks off with a screening of the profound film Chasing Coral at the Hermosa Beach Community Theatre. The film chronicles the phenomenon of coral bleaching and follows a team of divers, scientists, and photographers on an epic ocean adventure to discover why coral reefs around the world are vanishing at an unprecedented rate. Chasing Coral is a cinematic wonder that took 3.5 years to make, features 500 hours of underwater footage, and submissions from over 30 countries! Pizza and beer will be served at 6pm when doors open. Cool adventure gear raffle and insightful Q&A with Surfrider’s Bill Hickman following the film. All proceeds will be donated to Surfrider South Bay.
