El Segundo Museum of Art Exhibits Cuban Artists with STING
The Midwest of the South Bay and El Segundo Museum of Art open their doors Sunday, December 8th to invite art enthusiasts for a look at what will be an ever-evolving exhibit that features Conceptual Art from a Cuban perspective. A vivid and highly complex art scene has blossomed on Cuba, inspired by its special situation, so in 2013, ESMoA invited five Cuban artists to visit Los Angeles and participate in their newest art exhibition: STING.STING weaves together how an institutional force like Cuba drives organic artistic expression by exploring a theme called “transversality” or how spaces intersect. Every work in STING attempts to connect areas that grow more and more distant each day like technology and human relations, death and aesthetic, and scientific procedures & symbolic power. From rational and analytical to emotional expressionism, STING will transform ESMoA’s main exhibition space into a platform for the understanding of “transversality.”
STING will unfold gradually, with ESMoA’s main exhibition space evolving from near empty to art-filled over a period of 6 weeks. Viewers, especially those who return repeatedly, will be able to experience the progress, with the full work revealed only at the end.
