24th World Famous Pumpkin Race in Manhattan Beach: Sunday, October 26, 2014 - Noon - 5:00 PM

The World Famous Pumpkin races bring their rolling, kinetic pumpkin-mobiles back to Manhattan Beach for an annual 24th time. Not only can pumpkins be smashed, put into a pie, or made to flavor seasonal brew, they can also race. This October 26th, right after the Sketchers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk, customized racing pumpkins will bound down the hill just above the Manhattan Beach Pier. Single elimination qualifying races start at noon and got till at least 4:00 p.m. This is a free event and anyone with some creative sparkle and a little elbow grease can participate in the races. Dress in colorful costumes, enjoy fun activities for all ages, make your own Pumpkin Racecar and feel the thrill of competing in the fun-spirited World Famous Pumpkin Race.

WHAT'S THE WORLD FAMOUS PUMPKIN RACE? - Handcrafted Pumpkin Racecars racing side-by-side in unpredictable and dramatic style! Families and friends race for fun and the coveted Championship Trophy. Prizes are awarded for Best of Show, Best Team Spirit, and Best Crash. More info at the World Famous Pumpkin site!

World Famous Pumpkin Racecar Kits will be available for $20.00 (cash or check only, payable to City of Manhattan Beach). Pumpkin Racecar Kits are fun and easy to assemble and contain everything you needed to build a Pumpkin Racecar (2 axels, 4 wheels, 4 spacers, 4 wing nuts, instructions and official rules).

Free assistance, decorations, and accessories are available at the event for those purchasing official kits. You may also may make your own Pumpkin Racecar according to the Official Rules of the World Famous Pumpkin Race.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
12:00 PM to 3:45 PM - Open Qualifying Races
4:15 PM to 4:30 PM - Pumpkin Race Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
4:30 PM to 5:00 PM Pumpkin Race Finals
